Learning Objectives:


  • K: the advantages and disadvantages of using a mood board to inspire content of new media product.
  • U: how different types of images and fonts can affect the way audiences consume media texts.
  • BAT: produce a mood board that illustrates your initial ideas for your media product.
  • CO: Use media terminology throughout

Task 2

  • What brief did you choose?
I chose to do the magazine brief.
  • What are the minimum requirements for your chosen production?
It needs to have a front cover and a double page spread with at least 5 original images. 
  • What is the target audience as prescribed in the brief?
The target audience is for 10 - 13 year olds.
  • What is your target audience for the product you're creating? (this needs to link to the audience profiling post).
My target audience is for mainly 11 year olds. Therefore it needs to be simple and easy to understand but also appealing with bright colours for children. 

Task 3

In this task I am going to research the front covers of baking magazines and take inspiration and certain features of some magazines which I can use in mine. The research I do will also help me design the layout for my front cover and the double page spread.









  • How did they helped you define content for your product?
They mood board helped me demonstrate what style i would like my magazine to look like and it enables me to take certain elements from each part of the mood board to use on the front cover of my magazine. 

  • What will be your overall colour scheme of your production?
The overall colour will be pastels mainly light blues, pinks and yellows. 

  • What kind of images/shots would you use in your production?
I will mostly use birds-eye-view shots because it gives the clearest view of the cakes and the toppings etc.

  • What kind of fonts would you use in your production?
For the title it will be big and bold bubble writing.

  • What kind of mise-en-scene would you use in your production?
I would use a prop on the front cover which will be a cake stand to for the front cover images. 

  • What kind of intertextuality would you use in your production?
A small area of the front cover will include a competition which can be used to refer to a programme such as bake off.
