Statement Of Intent

Statement of Intent

Brief 1

My magazine will be aimed mainly for girls aged between 10 and 13. The magazine will be about baking and will consist of a step-to-step guide of baking cupcakes. The magazine will also feature an interview and a competition on the front cover. The front cover of my magazine will also have 3 more found images of other bakes that the reader could do. My intentions behind using found images that I recommended the readers should try on the front cover, was to make the front cover appear more suitable for children. This is because the collection of various pictures, colours and text is more appealing to my target audience of 10 to 13 year old. This is because it stands out more to the audience.

I have used media language in my magazine to suit the target audience. I have used various different bright colours to appeal to a younger audience. These colours are seen through several different elements of my magazine. For example, in the text, pictures and background. I have also used large text so that it stands out more against other magazines and multi-coloured text in order to appear more enticing to my target audience. I have used a close up shot in my main image to draw attention from my audience to the main subject of my magazine (baking). This ensures that the reader is completely aware of the genre of the magazine straight away. I have placed the text around the main picture to ensure that both the main image and the text is entirely visible to the reader. Finally, the recipe inside my magazine is easy and quick. This is suited to my target audience because the magazine is aimed specifically for new and not advanced bakers.
